Rockworks Climbing – Our new store is due to open in February within The Newcastle Climbing Centre. The store will offer a vast range of climbing equipment and the best products from all the top brands available in the UK today. This increased range will of course be available on this web site and will give locally based climbers the opportunity to purchase on the web and collect from the climbing centre outside of shop hours.

Construction teams from Rockworks are currently finishing off the climbing walls – the facilities available are:

• 1250 m2 of climbing surface
• 75 independent route corridors (with 3 routes per line) to approx 13 m
• Massive 8 m roof section offering routes of 18 m in length
• Intermediate and beginners areas with 7.5 m high leading and top roping.
• The provision of 6 auto belay units
• Large bouldering wall of approx. 300 m2 with combinations of GRP and multifaceted plywood.

The centre will incorporate some of the best design and build skills that Rockworks have spent 20 years developing and should provide Newcastle with a climbing facility that can rival anything seen to date. Overlooking the main climbing area is a beautifully constructed mezzanine floor that will accommodate the café and ‘chill out’ areas all flooded with amazing light from the ‘listed’ East window.
