The Falcon is Edelrid's second lightest rope, weighing in at 58g/m it is perfect for those onsight, flash or redpoints where every gram counts (also applicable to budget airline baggage allowances!).
The Falcon is super light yet also durable thanks to Edelrid's Dry Shield and Pro Shield treatments. The Dry Shield treatment is a chemical finish which applies a mixture of oil and water repelling compounds to the sheath of the rope. This optimises abrasion resistance, help to keep harmful substances from penetrating your rope and will increase its lifespan. The Pro Shield involves the application of microscopic fluoropolymer particles to the individual yarns in both the sheath and core of the rope. This electro-chemical process forms an impermeable protective layer and also reduces friction between the individual yarns thus improving the ropes loading properties.
At 70m the Falcon is an excellent choice for modern sport climbing where routes of 40m+ per pitch are not uncommon in many European destinations. However, the multifaceted falcon would also make an ideal companion on winter or alpine climbs thanks to the Pro Shield's protective barrier.
